these photos of pupils taken between 1948 and 1950. She has filled in
quite a few of the names, but there are still some missing, so if you

Lorna's memories of the school holiday trip to Sussex were brought back by the photos sent in by Sheila Edmunds.
Many thanks to Sheila Edmunds (Orr) for great photos - I recognize lots of contemporaries. Miss Catlin & Miss Stanford look exactly as I remember them. I was on that school trip to Arundel/Sussex too. It was well thought out & good fun. I specially recall the trip round the Roman Villa excavations at Bignor; a day at the sea where we swimmers cannoned in to shore on an inward-racing tide; and a tour of Shippams fish & meat paste factory in Chichester, where we were conducted round the whole production process, up and down metal stairways. Looking down groggily into the huge pink swirling vats, I knew I would never eat fish or meat paste again.
I was allowed special time out for two days & my train passed through Southampton. I noticed, still aloft over the docks, two barrage balloons, like delicate airborne elephants. Lorna Selby (Eedes) THS 1947-5

School Holiday to Lazely
Holiday Camp 1st to 8th July 1949
Here we had stopped for a break during our journey to the Holiday Camp in Chichester, Surrey. There were two coaches of pupils on the holiday, and we all had to travel in school uniform. The man in the middle was one of the coach drivers.
