Peter Douglas drew this map of the Cross Country course in
1960. It shows the route going from school to Fairway, Kenmuir Avenue,
Kettering Rd, Holton's Lane and back though Eastern Ave South. There
was an "unofficial" short cut that we took to shave a little suffering
off the run. The "Valley of Death" referred to was a pit full of
rubbish like old mattresses and other junk, and invariably knee deep in
nasty water.
