Class of 64 Annual Girl's Reunion
The annual reunion of the 8 friends from the class of 64 (the
girls who signed the 20 year "We'll Meet Again" pact)
I've been volunteered (or so I'm told) to send information about
our annual reunion, which this year took place over the weekend of
July 28th, 29th and 30th of July. The Usual Suspects attended;
our names, as we were known at school - Sue Berrill, Judy Betts,
Jenny Cansdale, Sandy Coe, Liz Dexter, Sue Edwards, Sue Harris and
me, Jenny Heard.
This year we were welcomed to Sue Edwards's lovely cottage home
in Hampshire. The first celebratory bottles were opened on
Friday afternoon as we gathered in the sunshine in the garden.
The fact that several of us fell off our garden chairs as the
weekend progressed was blamed firmly upon the presence of MOLES
undermining the garden, and could not possibly have had anything to
do with the intake of bubbly and red wine.
As always there was lively conversation and laughter, many
memories of school days and school friends back in the old days at
Trinity, and much catching up with what was happening in our lives.
A great feature of our reunions is the unfailing support that this
wonderful long-term friendship gives to any of us going through
difficult times, and that was certainly true again this year.
However, it's the sheer fun of having a grown-up "sleepover" which
provides the best therapy, and cannot be overstated.
We did attempt to take a walk down the country lanes for our
health, but a shower of rain as we approached nearby stables sent us
scurrying back to the comfort of the cottage and those wine glasses.
Well - red wine is good for the heart, isn't it? Here's to
next year!
